This is a regional training opportunity offering exposure across tertiary and regional hospitals, with a broad and diverse case mix. You will rotate through:
- Waikato Hospital (Hamilton Tertiary Centre)
- Major trauma and tertiary referral centre
- Cardiac, neurosurgery, thoracic, and complex pediatric anesthesia
- High-acuity emergency and elective workload
- Tauranga Hospital (Regional Hospital)
- High-volume elective and acute surgical services
- Strong exposure to orthopedics, general surgery, and obstetrics
- Modern facilities in a rapidly growing coastal city
- Rotorua Hospital (Regional Hospital)
- Broad generalist anaesthetic experience
- Smaller department with excellent access to teaching and supervision
This rotation provides a unique balance of exposure to anaesthesia in tertiary and regional hospitals, preparing trainees for a wide range of future practice settings. Training & Development
- Structured regional teaching programme
- Weekly protected teaching ( day per week), including ANZCA exam preparation
- Simulation training and procedural skills workshops
- Opportunities for audit, research, and quality improvement
Support & Supervision
- Close supervision for junior trainees, with progressive autonomy
- Experienced and approachable consultant body across all sites
- Strong culture of teaching, mentorship, and collegial support

About You To be considered, you will have:
- A minimum of two years post-graduation clinical experience
- Eligibility for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ)
- Eligibility to work in New Zealand
Overseas applicants:
- Prior anaesthetic experience is desirable
- Must meet MCNZ registration requirements
