Job description

About SafierySafiery designs and manufactures world-leading power electronics for marine, RV and off-grid vehicles. We’re an Australian-owned, profitable company of 22 people, headquartered on the Gold Coast and shipping product into Europe, USA, the GCC and Asia-Pacific. We were a 2023 and 2024 DAME Award finalist at METSTRADE Amsterdam, and we’re pivoting from being a products builder to a platform builder with a global launch of our next-generation Quasar platform, including 6 new power electronic products in November 2026.Our products run on open source frameworks. We believe that is the future together with highly efficient and compact power devices. Our customers include premium boat builders, OEMs and the world’s top marine electronics distributors. We have a provisional patent around electrochemical impedance spectroscopy for semi and all solid state batteries with 54 claims. We now have to build the BMS (Battery Management System) to support this initiative. Our BMS firmware developer is world class from overseas so you will be in an elevated performance team. The roleWe’re hiring a Senior Electronics Engineer to take ownership of our platform from schematic through to deployed product. This is a hands-on design role with real authority – you will own the PCB, the control loops and the path to volume manufacture. You will:•     Work alongside our BMS firmware engineer to deliver a complete, integrated BMS control system.•     Design, simulate and deploy controlled switching and multiple transport layer communication architectures for our product lines.•     Take PCBs from concept through schematic capture, layout review, EMC, prototype bring-up, qualification and into production.•     Develop and tune control functions – current/voltage loops, protection, and machine learning behaviour – in collaboration with our firmware team.•     Own design-for-manufacture, supplier qualification and component selection with our China-based manufacturing partners.•     Contribute to CE, eMark and regulatory compliance documentation, and to the technical story we tell at METSTRADE and to OEM customers. What you bringEssential•     Degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering (or equivalent demonstrable experience).•     5+ years designing switch-mode power electronics, with proven power level experience.•     Strong PCB design skills in Altium, KiCad or equivalent – including high-current layout, magnetics integration, thermal management and EMC-aware design.•     Solid grasp of closed-loop control theory and practical experience tuning control loops on real hardware.•     Comfortable with LTspice / PLECS / MATLAB simulation, and with bench bring-up using oscilloscopes, current probes, electronic loads and power analysers.•     Either Australian work rights, or a genuine willingness to relocate to the Gold Coast – we will sponsor the right candidate.Highly regarded•     Experience with battery systems, BMS integration and CAN communication architectures.•     Exposure to marine, RV, automotive or harsh-environment electronics.•     Experience taking products through CE, FCC, eMark or equivalent certification.•     Firmware literacy – you don’t need to write production firmware, but you should be able to read it and talk fluently with the firmware team.•     Experience working with Chinese contract manufacturers and component suppliers.International candidatesVisitors currently in Australia who wish to move here permanently are welcome to apply. If you’re an exceptional power electronics engineer, we are open to sponsoring a 482 (Skills in Demand) visa with a clear pathway to a 186 (Employer Nomination Scheme) permanent residency visa. The Gold Coast is one of the most liveable parts of Australia – beaches, hinterland, top-rated schools, and a forty-minute drive to a major international airport. Several of our team have made the move from overseas and would be happy to talk to you about what to expect. Why Safiery•     Genuine ownership. You will be the senior power electronics voice in the company – not one of fifty.•     Equity participation. Our IP is highly desirable in the global market. We turned down a significant offer in 2025 as we scale up to a 2030 exit north of $100m. We are offering equity to senior technical hires. The right candidate will share in the upside they help create.•     Products that ship. We are profitable, growing, and our hardware is in the hands of real customers around the world.•     A serious roadmap. Quasar platform launch at METSTRADE 2026, HiBlade high density all solid state battery – you will help shape all of it.•     A Gold Coast lifestyle, an Arundel office a short drive from the beach, and a small, capable team that respects engineering depth.•     Competitive salary commensurate with experience. Possible visa sponsorship. How to applyApply through SEEK with your CV and a short cover note. If you have a portfolio, a published paper, a board you’re proud of, or a control loop you tuned the hard way – tell us about it. We read every application personally.Applications close when we find the right person. We encourage strong candidates – of any nationality – to apply early. We see women as men’s equals.
