Activities CoordinatorElizabeth Homes, Howden, East Yorkshire | £13.00–£13.50/hour | 20–30 hours per weekElizabeth Homes is a warm, friendly residential and dementia care home in the heart of Howden, East Yorkshire. We provide person-centred care to up to 30 residents and we are proud of the close-knit community we have built here. We are looking for a creative, compassionate and energetic Activities Coordinator to join our team and make every day truly meaningful for our residents. The RoleAs our Activities Coordinator, you will design and deliver a vibrant, varied and person-centred activities programme that enriches the daily lives of our residents. Working closely with our care team, you will ensure activities are tailored to individual needs, abilities and interests — whether residents are living with dementia, enjoying an active retirement, or somewhere in between.This is a flexible part-time role of 20–30 hours per week (Monday to Friday, with one weekend day per fortnight on a rota basis). The exact hours will be agreed with the successful candidate. As our home grows and develops, there is a clear opportunity to increase hours over time. What You Will Be Doing● Designing and delivering a weekly activities calendar — group and one-to-one — tailored to residents' individual preferences, life histories and abilities● Leading music therapy sessions, reminiscence activities, arts and crafts, gentle exercise, gardening, quizzes, themed days and social events● Organising and accompanying residents on outings using our minibus — to local favourites such as The Deep aquarium in Hull, the historic Howden Minster, Beverley town centre and Saturday market, Bridlington and Hornsea beaches, Burnby Hall Gardens in Pocklington, and Bishops Manor art exhibitions right here in Howden● Engaging residents living with dementia through sensory activities, reminiscence work and person-centred approaches● Working with our clinical partners to ensure activities support residents with more complex needs● Building relationships with families, volunteers, local schools, community groups and entertainers to bring variety and community connection to the home● Keeping accurate records of activities delivered and resident participation for compliance purposes● Producing a quarterly activities report for management and the board● Supporting the care team with activity-based approaches during quieter periods of the day About You — Essential● A genuine passion for working with older people and improving their quality of life● Creative, energetic and full of ideas — you bring enthusiasm and initiative to everything you do● Demonstrable experience of planning and delivering activities in any setting — care, community, education, arts or voluntary● A genuine love of music, arts, crafts, storytelling or community activities● Understanding of person-centred care and how to tailor activities to individual needs and abilities● Knowledge of dementia and how it affects engagement, communication and daily life● Warm, patient and able to build genuine relationships with residents, families and staff● Organised and able to plan ahead while remaining flexible and responsive on the day● Basic IT skills for record keeping and communication● Enhanced DBS check (we will arrange this if you do not already have one) About You — Desirable● Experience delivering activities specifically for people living with dementia or with complex needs● NVQ Level 2 or above in Health and Social Care or equivalent● NAPA qualification or similar activities coordination / wellbeing qualification● Knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) approaches● Experience organising community outings and working with volunteers or entertainers● Previous care home experience What We Offer● £13.00 – £13.50 per hour depending on experience● Flexible hours of 20–30 per week to suit you — with opportunity to increase as the home grows● A supportive, close-knit team in a home that genuinely cares about its residents and its people● Participate in our Internal Talent Development Programme (ITDP) — we actively sponsor training and qualifications for staff who show ambition and commitment● Minibus available for resident outings across East Yorkshire and beyond● Workplace pension● 28 days holiday pro-rata (including bank holidays)● A real opportunity to shape and own the activities programme — this role is yours to build About Elizabeth HomesElizabeth Homes has been serving the Howden community for over twenty years.
