Subsurface Design Engineer SYOS is an innovative robotics and aerospace company developing industry-leading uncrewed vehicles (drones) across air, land, and sea. About the Role We are seeking an experienced Subsurface Design Engineer (AUV/ROV/UUV) to join and play a key role in our Subsea Vehicles team. In this pivotal role, you'll work across all levels of the team and contribute across design, prototyping, and testing of our AUV/UUV platforms. Key Responsibilities · Design and validation of AUV/ROV/UUV vehicle systems · Design and validation of vehicle frames and structural components · Design and integration of vehicle payload systems · High-level concept development for subsea vehicle platforms · Prototyping and field validation processes of underwater vehicles Required Skills and Experience · 5+ years' hands-on experience with subsea vehicles — AUVs, ROVs, UUVs, or similar autonomous/remotely operated platforms · Fluent CAD knowledge — Siemens Solid Edge or similar · Experience with subsea materials and fluid dynamics specific to underwater vehicle design · Experience with pressure vessels · Experience evaluating propulsion systems on underwater vehicles · Exposure to CNC machining practices · Exposure to 3D printing practices · Experience with subsea cabling and wiring looms · Knowledge of PCB design and layout practices · Experience with subsea sensor systems and understanding of operational deployment · Team player with a mentality to learn and work with all levels of team members Nice to Have · Experience with CFD analysis for vehicle hull and appendage optimisation · Offshore experience · Ability to CAM program for CNC machining · Field deployment experience with AUV/ROV systems in open water or offshore environments Join Us Join SYOS and play a leading role in shaping the global brand of a cutting-edge company driving the future of autonomous systems. Terms and Conditions of Employment Salary: $120,000 – $135,000 per annum (dependent on experience). This is a fully guaranteed salary with no variable component. Hours of Work: Minimum guaranteed 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Location: This position is based on site in Mount Maunganui, New Zealand.
