About the Role/Team We are seeking a motivated and collegial Nephrology Consultant to join the Renal Service at MidCentral, based in Palmerston North. This full-time Senior Medical Officer position offers an excellent opportunity to practise broad-spectrum nephrology within a supportive, medium-sized hospital that values clinical excellence, teamwork, and work-life balance. MidCentral provides a diverse and rewarding case mix, allowing consultants to maintain a wide scope of practice across inpatient nephrology, outpatient services, chronic kidney disease management, dialysis, and acute renal care. The size of the service enables meaningful professional relationships with colleagues across specialties while offering sufficient variety and clinical challenge to keep the role engaging. This sub-regional service provides specialist care to both the MidCentral and Whanganui districts. Work is underway which will see significant facility and resource development. This project will see expansion of the existing dialysis unit at Palmerston North, the establishment of a satellite dialysis unit at Whanganui, expansion of the dialysis space at Horowhenua hospital, and access to self managed dialysis in the Tararua region. About the Hospital Te Pae Hauora o Ruahine o Tararua - MidCentral is a 350-bed hospital in the city of Palmerston North, Manawatu, a city in the Lower North Island of New Zealand. Palmerston North Hospital is a secondary hospital and offers most medical and surgical specialties with the exception of Cardiothoracic, Plastic and Neurosurgery. The hospital serves a local population of 180,000 but is the base for a regional head and neck oncology service which has responsibility for a population of 550,000 and draws patients from Whanganui, Taranaki, and Hawke's Bay.
