Role SummaryElanic Hospital is seeking an experienced and forward‑thinking Consultant Anaesthetist to join our expanding surgical team in Glasgow. This full‑time role offers the opportunity to work across our three state‑of‑the‑art theatres, contributing to safe, efficient and patient‑centred perioperative care.The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping clinical practice, supporting service development, and maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and experience within one of Scotland’s leading independent hospitals. Work Location: In person
- Deliver expert anaesthetic care across three theatres, ensuring safe induction, maintenance and recovery for patients undergoing a wide range of elective procedures.
- Provide specialist consultation to theatre teams, offering guidance on patient optimisation, airway management, analgesia strategies and complex cases.
- Support the development of clinical pathways and contribute to quality‑improvement initiatives that enhance patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
- Administer anaesthesia and associated medications in line with national guidelines, hospital protocols and robust clinical governance standards.
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, nurses and wider MDT colleagues to uphold best practice, streamline perioperative processes and strengthen patient safety.
- Participate in staff training and education, sharing expertise in anaesthetic techniques, medication safety, airway skills and patient‑handling protocols.
- Contribute to organisational development, including public‑health aligned initiatives and service‑expansion planning as Elanic continues to grow.
Skills & Experience
- Demonstrated excellence in patient care, with strong communication skills and a compassionate, reassuring approach.
- Proven competence in safe medication and anaesthetic administration, aligned with national standards and clinical governance frameworks.
- Experience working within NHS or independent‑sector surgical environments, with a strong understanding of theatre operations and patient‑flow management.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams, maintaining a consistent patient‑centred focus.
- Highly organised, detail‑oriented and adaptable, with strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to respond to evolving clinical needs.
