About the role We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Senior Laboratory Manager to lead the day‑to‑day operations of the teaching and research laboratories at the UCL Eastman Dental Institute. Working on-site at the Royal Free Hospital, with travel to Bloomsbury, you will oversee laboratory facilities, manage a team of technicians, and ensure a safe, efficient and compliant working environment across both locations. The role involves responsibility for laboratory management, equipment coordination, procurement, health and safety leadership (including acting as Departmental Safety Officer), and supporting the delivery of high‑quality research and teaching. You will train and supervise staff and students in specialist equipment and laboratory techniques, support sustainability initiatives, and work closely with academic, technical and estates teams to maintain excellent laboratory standards. We are looking for a candidate with strong laboratory management experience, extensive biomaterials characterisation expertise, proven team leadership skills, and deep understanding of Health & Safety within scientific environments. Starting salary offered in the range of £54,931 – £62,903, per annum including London Allowance. Salary on appointment is subject to experience. - Proven track-record in biomaterials characterisation/analysis (e.g. Electron microscopy, mechanical testing, contact angle, ATR-FTIR) and equipment maintenance and usage, cell culture.
- Management experience working within a laboratory based environment.
