Uxbridge Scooters Limited is a long‑established mobility‑aid retailer and repair provider based in Uxbridge, Greater London, offering mobility scooters, wheelchairs, walking aids, and after‑sales services for more than 25 years. Mechanical Engineer – Mobility Scooter Repairs & Maintenance Role Summary The Mechanical Engineer (Repairs & Maintenance) is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and refurbishing mobility scooters to ensure safe, reliable, and long‑lasting performance. This role focuses on hands‑on mechanical work, fault‑finding, component replacement, and supporting customers with technical issues. Key Responsibilities

- Diagnostics & Fault‑Finding — Identify mechanical, structural, and drivetrain issues using testing tools and inspection methods.
- Repairs & Overhauls — Perform repairs on chassis, steering systems, suspension, brakes, wheels, and mechanical linkages.
- Routine Maintenance — Carry out scheduled servicing, lubrication, adjustments, and safety checks.
- Component Replacement — Replace worn or damaged parts such as bearings, axles, forks, frames, and fasteners.
- Electromechanical Support — Assist with basic electrical troubleshooting (motors, controllers, wiring) when related to mechanical faults.
- Workshop Repairs — Complete in‑house repairs, rebuilds, and refurbishments to company standards.
- Field Service — Attend customer locations to diagnose and repair mobility scooters on‑site when required.
- Quality & Safety Checks — Ensure all repaired scooters meet safety, performance, and regulatory requirements.
- Documentation — Record repair actions, parts used, and diagnostic findings in service reports.
- Customer Support — Provide clear explanations of issues, repair options, and maintenance advice.
Required Skills & Experience
- Mechanical Engineering Qualification (degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent experience).
- Strong hands‑on mechanical repair skills.
- Experience with mobility scooters, bicycles, motorcycles, small vehicles, or medical mobility equipment.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings and service manuals.
- Competence with workshop tools, torque tools, and measuring equipment.
- Understanding of mechanical systems: steering, suspension, braking, drivetrains, and structural components.
- Good problem‑solving and diagnostic ability.
