Refrigeration Technician

Job Overview We are seeking an experienced Refrigeration Technician (HVAC/R) to join our team and support multiple retail, hospitality, and supermarket sites across the Wellington region. This is a hands-on role focused on maintaining and repairing commercial refrigeration systems and ensuring minimal downtime across all locations. Key Responsibilities

• Service, repair, and maintain:
• Walk-in cool rooms and freezers
• Bottle store chillers
• Bar fridges and ice machines
• Supermarket refrigeration systems
• Diagnose faults and complete repairs efficiently
• Carry out preventative maintenance across all sites
• Ensure compliance with NZ safety and environmental standards
• Maintain accurate service records and reports
• Liaise with external contractors for larger works

Required Qualifications & Certifications Applicants must have:

• NZ Certificate in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (Level 4)
• Controlled Substances Licence (CSL)
• Limited Electrical Licence / Registration from the Electrical Workers Registration Board
• Proven experience in commercial refrigeration systems
• Full NZ driver licence

Skills & Experience

• Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting ability
• Experience with chillers, cool rooms, and freezers
• Ability to work independently across multiple sites
• Good understanding of safety and compliance standards

Preferred (Not Essential)

• HVAC / air conditioning experience
• Experience in supermarket or hospitality environments
• Site Safe or similar health & safety certifications
• CO₂ refrigeration system experience
