Lead the voice of a global forestry standard-setter - shaping how FSC's story reaches audiences worldwide through compelling content, strategic social media, and a high-performing communications team.
The scope
This is a senior leadership role spanning people management, budget ownership, and end-to-end communications delivery. You will oversee content planning and production, social media strategy, channel management, storytelling, and visual production - driving coherent, high-impact communications across FSC's global network.
What You'll Lead
Thought Leadership Design and drive a comprehensive thought leadership strategy that cements FSC's position as a trusted authority in responsible forest management, directly aligned to FSC's priority areas.
Event Amplification Maximize FSC's presence at major industry events - through compelling storytelling, thought leadership content, and real-time social media management that extends reach beyond the room.
Social Media Content Alignment Own the editorial calendar, ensuring communications from across FSC's global teams feed into cohesive social media planning. Identify content opportunities systematically, review and refine copy and visuals for brand consistency, and mentor the team through constructive, timely feedback.
Monitoring & Evaluation Apply a rigorous, data-driven approach to communications performance. Use a range of analytics tools and M&E methodologies to measure impact and iteratively improve campaign effectiveness over time.
Team & Operations Plan and manage team workloads, develop and oversee the communications budget, and cultivate the skills and growth of your team. Ensure compliance with FSC's policies and health and safety requirements across all staff under your supervision.
Your Profile
Education Degree in Journalism, Media, Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
Experience
  • 8+ years developing and implementing communications strategies
  • 5+ years managing communications teams and staff
  • 5+ years in media relations, social media management, and event coordination
  • 5+ years iteratively applying M&E methodologies to improve campaign performance


Skills & Strengths
  • Exceptional writing skills across multiple formats and channels
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset
  • Proven ability to plan, organize, and manage complex workloads
  • Detail-oriented with a service- and solution-focused attitude
  • Experience in media relations and stakeholder communications
  • Ability to build and maintain positive interpersonal relationships


Tools MS Office suite; Adobe Creative Cloud is a strong plus.
Languages
  • English - required (spoken and written)
  • Spanish or French - a bonus

The Details
  • 📍 Location - Bonn, Germany (This is a hybrid role based in Bonn, Germany with 2-3 days working from office)
  • 🕐 Hours - Full-time, 40 hours per week
  • 📄 Contract - 2-year temporary contract, with extension possible based on performance
  • 🚀 Start date - As soon as possible
  • ✈️ Travel - Occasional travel may be required
