Job Overview We are seeking to appoint a registrar doctor (full MRCP) to join our Acute Medicine team at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for a fixed‑term 6‑month appointment. The role offers specialist experience in acute medicine and substantial training opportunities. Clinical work includes day and night shifts on the acute medical take, Acute Medicine Unit (AMU), ambulatory care and cardiology ward rounds.
Substantial self‑development time (approximately 1 week every

Contract and SalaryContract:
Fixed term 6 months (NHSE gap from 05/08/2026). Salary: £67,325 per annum + London weighting (out‑of‑hours).

- Work with a large cohort of doctors across Foundation Years, Internal Medicine Trainees, ACCS, GP ST1, Clinical Research Fellows and consultants.
- Practice Acute/General medicine to a high clinical standard and take on leadership responsibilities during out‑of‑hours shifts.
- Provide support, training and mentorship to junior colleagues and maintain patient safety.
- Make rapid decisions, plan safe discharges and work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
- Engage with departmental clinical governance and participate in the local teaching programme.
- Report to the named Consultant of the day.
Qualifications and Experience
- Medical Degree.
- Completion of Internal Medical Training/ACCS training, or equivalent, and ability to work at the level of medical registrar.
- MRCP or equivalent.
- Qualified for full registration with the GMC and hold a current licence to practise.
- Valid ALS certificate or equivalent.
- Familiarity with acute/general medicine.
- Experience teaching formally and informally.
- Evidence of innovation in audit/quality‑improvement work.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to assess acutely ill patients.
- Effective communication with people at all levels.
- Ability to support and mentor junior resident doctor staff.
- Willingness to teach, offer feedback and assist Foundation doctors with educational portfolios.
