- Excellent SQL and Python skills, with a strong understanding of software engineering and data engineering best practices
- In-depth knowledge of statistical and machine learning models, including gradient boosted trees, logistic regression, neural networks, and survival analysis
- Solid knowledge of statistics, including hypothesis testing, confidence intervals, and bootstrap methods
- Experience developing and maintaining end-to-end ML models used for business-critical automated decisioning in a consumer-facing industry
- Strong attention to detail while keeping the bigger picture in mind
- Excellent communication skills to explain complex problems clearly
- Ability to build mutual respect and trust with people from different backgrounds
- Nice to have: experience in UK/EU retail lending for personal or business customers
- Nice to have: experience with ML model governance in a regulated industry
- Nice to have: experience using modern AI tools for productivity
Responsibilities:
- Improve customer and business outcomes through better automated decisioning using machine learning and statistical modelling
- Focus primarily on credit risk modelling, while also applying expertise to predict and optimise utilisation, pricing, collections, and marketing
- Work end to end on multiple ML applications, from experiment design and data curation to deployment and monitoring
- Innovate in data, methodologies, and tooling to build better models faster and more easily
- Collaborate closely with our Credit Strategy Managers, Model Validation Analysts, Backend Engineers, and Product Managers to align model development with the product roadmap
- Take ownership of impactful topics across our borrowing products and applications
- Use your autonomy to help shape product and credit strategy beyond models
