About The Role
The Bath Institute for the Augmented Human (IAH) is a dynamic interdisciplinary research institute at the University of Bath, bringing together researchers from engineering, neuroscience, health, computer science, psychology, and design to develop technologies that enhance human capability and wellbeing. The Institute Coordinator plays a central role in enabling the day-to-day operations that support this growing research and innovation environment.
This role sits at the operational core of the Institute, ensuring that its activities run smoothly and efficiently. The Coordinator works closely with the Institute Manager, Directors, academic members, and professional services teams to deliver high-quality administrative, financial, and organisational support. From managing meetings and supporting financial processes to coordinating events and supporting recruitment and training activities, this role enables the Institute’s programmes and partnerships to function effectively.
As part of a rapidly expanding Institute, this position offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment supporting cutting-edge research and innovation. The Coordinator will interact with researchers, students, external partners, and University services, contributing to the delivery of initiatives that advance technology development, partnership engagement, and postgraduate training.
Key Areas Of Focus Include
- Coordinating Institute operations: Provide administrative and organisational support across Institute activities, including diary management, record keeping, reporting support, and coordination of meetings and committees.
- Supporting financial processes: Assist with budget tracking, expenditure monitoring, invoicing, and financial reporting to ensure effective financial oversight and compliance.
- Delivering events and engagement activities: Organise conferences, workshops, seminars, and networking activities that support collaboration and partnership development.
- Supporting recruitment and training: Coordinate recruitment processes, onboarding activities, and postgraduate training programmes to maintain a vibrant research and learning environment.
The role also includes acting as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and effective coordination across teams. The postholder will maintain accurate records of Institute activities and provide supporting information that informs reporting, reviews, and programme delivery.

About You
We are seeking an organised and proactive individual who enjoys working in collaborative environments and supporting complex activities. We welcome applicants from a wide range of backgrounds who have strong administrative and coordination skills and experience working with diverse teams.
Essential Qualifications And Experience
- Degree-level qualification or A-level (or equivalent) with substantial relevant administrative experience.
- Demonstrated experience providing financial and administrative support within a large team, centre, or organisation.
- Experience using Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) to manage information and produce reports.
- Experience using digital collaboration tools (e.g., Teams, Zoom, online forms or spreadsheets).
- Proven experience managing diaries, meetings, and logistics for individuals or teams with demanding schedules.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records and datasets.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate professionally and build positive working relationships.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a team environment.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information appropriately.
Desirable Qualifications And Experience
- Experience supporting financial administration or budget monitoring activities.
- Experience coordinating large-scale events, workshops, or meetings.
- Familiarity with administrative or financial systems (e.g., Agresso or similar).
- Experience supporting recruitment or onboarding processes.
- Experience working within a university, research, or multidisciplinary environment.
- Knowledge of content management systems or digital communications tools.
- Experience supporting interactions with external partners, such as industry or academic collaborators.
- Familiarity with postgraduate training or research programme administration.
