Chief of Staff (Technology)

A Tier-1 proprietary trading firm operating at the forefront of global electronic markets is seeking a Chief of Staff (Technology) to join its CTO Office in Amsterdam.
The firm is widely regarded as one of the most advanced technology-driven trading organisations in the world, building and operating ultra-high-performance systems that power trading across global exchanges.
In this role, you will partner directly with senior technology leadership and help shape the strategic direction of the firm’s global technology organisation. Sitting at the centre of the technology leadership team, you will work at the intersection of technology strategy, organisational transformation, and executive decision-making.
You will help leadership navigate complex strategic challenges across engineering, infrastructure, and global technology operations while driving initiatives that enable the organisation to scale and innovate in an extremely demanding technical environment.
What You’ll Do

• Drive strategic initiatives across the technology organisation from problem framing through executive decision-making and implementation.
• Partner closely with senior technology leaders to tackle complex organisational and technology challenges across engineering and trading infrastructure.
• Act as a strategic sparring partner to engineering leadership on topics such as organisational design, global technology footprint, and platform evolution.
• Coordinate cross-functional initiatives involving engineering teams, trading groups, and senior stakeholders across multiple regions.
• Support leadership in preparing executive and board-level materials that guide major technology decisions.
• Help shape the organisation’s approach to emerging technologies, including AI adoption and engineering productivity initiatives.
• Work alongside leaders responsible for technology operations, risk management, finance, talent strategy, and innovation to ensure alignment across strategic priorities.

Who You Are

• You bring strong analytical thinking and structured problem-solving skills.
• You are comfortable navigating complex, ambiguous problems and translating them into clear strategic insights.
• You communicate clearly and confidently with senior stakeholders and are comfortable challenging perspectives when needed.
• You thrive in fast-moving, high-performance environments where priorities evolve quickly.
• You have experience working in demanding environments such as strategy consulting, investment banking, or technology strategy roles.
• You are comfortable working closely with engineering organisations and have a strong interest in technology-driven businesses.
• A background in strategy consulting (e.g. McKinsey, Bain, BCG or similar) or experience supporting large-scale technology transformation initiatives is particularly relevant.
