Job Summary Consultant in Sexual and Reproductive Health and HIV. Locum post covering a 12‑month maternity cover. Successful candidate will work primarily at the Churchill Hospital, Oxford, with possible commitments at Banbury level‑3 service. Role Overview Provide comprehensive sexual health and HIV services across Oxfordshire, including remote telemedicine, level‑1 and 2 peripheral clinics, prison service, outreach, instruction in complex contraception, sexual assault care and HIV care. Liaise with the Infectious Diseases team, manage outpatient HIV service and support inpatient admissions. Key Responsibilities

- Lead routine level‑1 and 2 services – remote telemedicine, face‑to‑face peripheral clinics, prison service, outreach for vulnerable groups.
- Provide consultant‑led level‑3 services – complex contraception referrals, deep implant removals, complex IUD insertions/exchanges, pelvic ultrasound, sexual health referrals, sexual assault care, complex genital conditions, PEP, psychosexual medicine and HIV care.
- Deliver community outreach – specialist clinic, young‑person drop‑in, vulnerable populations; lead postal kit STI service.
- Coordinate with OBGYN, dermatology and infectious disease for integrated care.
- Support training – clinical education for GPs, midwives, pharmacists and medical students; oversee training of staff.
- Engage in research – attract academic links, supervise projects, publish findings.
- Participate in professional development and governance – CPD, audit, risk management.
Person Specification Registration & Eligibility
- Full GMC registration, Primary medical qualification (MBBS/MBChB), MRCP or MFSRH, DIP GUM (or equivalent), Diploma in Sexual and Reproductive Health (DFSRH).
- Entry to GMC Specialist Register or eligibility within 6 months of CCT, or CESR applicant.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
Clinical Skills
- 48 months postgraduate medical experience, broad GUM/HIV expertise, ability to manage contraception initiation and repeat at consultant level, independent clinical responsibility, knowledge of advancements, safeguarding of young people, psychosexual approach and BLS competence.
Desirable
- Previous NHS experience (F2 or CT1), higher medical degree.
- Specialist experience: genital dermatology, genital pain syndromes, sexual assault care, implant/IUD insertion and removal.
- Higher qualifications, research commitment, teaching credentials, driving licence.
