Full job descriptionWe are looking for a dependable Cook / Dietary Aide to help prepare, serve, and deliver meals in accordance with planned menus, dietary needs, food safety standards, and facility policies. This role helps ensure residents receive meals that are safe, accurate, appetizing, and served on time.Responsibilities
  • Prepare meals according to planned menus, standardized recipes, and special diet orders.
  • Prepare and serve food that is palatable, appetizing, and properly portioned.
  • Assist with meal preparation, food service, and tray setup.
  • Inspect special diet trays to help ensure meals are accurate.
  • Serve meals in accordance with portion control procedures.
  • Assist in preparing food for therapeutic diets, special meals, and facility events.
  • Follow all dietary procedures, safety rules, sanitation standards, and facility policies.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen and food service area.
  • Assist with daily or scheduled cleaning duties.
  • Help ensure food, supplies, and equipment are available for upcoming meals.
  • Assist with receiving, storing, and organizing food and supplies.
  • Report equipment issues, unsafe conditions, accidents, or incidents to the Dietary Supervisor.
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident information.
  • Communicate professionally with residents, staff, visitors, and supervisors.
  • Attend training, workshops, or continuing education programs as directed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 10th grade education preferred.
  • Prior cooking, food service, dietary aide, or healthcare facility experience is a plus, but not required.
  • On-the-job training may be provided.
  • Must be at least 19 years old.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Must be able to follow menus, recipes, portion control procedures, and special diet instructions.
  • Must be dependable, professional, patient, and respectful when working with residents and staff.
  • Must be able to work well with others and follow instructions from supervisors.

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, and move throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in a warm kitchen environment.
  • Must be able to enter refrigerated or storage areas when needed.
  • Must be able to handle frequent interruptions and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to assist in resident evacuation if needed.

Work Environment
  • Work is performed in a kitchen and food service setting within a healthcare or long-term care facility.
  • May involve interaction with residents, families, visitors, staff, and supervisors.
  • May require weekend, holiday, or extended hours as needed.
  • May be exposed to hot equipment, odors, cleaning products, temperature changes, and normal kitchen-related risks.
