Position Summary Do you have a passion for nursing? We have the position for you! We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team at Parkwood Place.

In accordance with the established mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health, and under the general supervision of Manager or designate, this position is a member of the Regional MS Team and Clinic, which includes a Medical Lead and Neurologists. The Regional MS Team provides specialized clinical care for patients who are newly diagnosed with MS, MS patients experiencing unexpected symptoms/declining and those on specialized medications which require follow up. MS Nurse also functions in an advisory and consultative capacity to support and mentor primary care givers in every care setting that support MS clients, and provides specialized MS assessment, treatment and follow up in the Regional MS Clinic at UHNBC.
Utilizing expert knowledge and skills the Nurse Consultant works collaboratively in their assigned area to build capacity among Primary Care providers in all care settings through consultation for clients and families with complex needs and providing formal and informal education. Provides leadership and advocacy to improve quality of care. A first in Canada: minimum Nurse-to-Patient Ratios (mNPRs) are starting in B.C.! Interior Health, alongside B.C.'s other health authorities, is implementing mNPRs as a transformative staffing initiative that aims to improve the working environment of nurses in order to provide better quality care to our patients. Qualifications
  • Current practicing registration as a Register Nurse with BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Three (3) years’ recent related clinical nursing experience in the designated clinical area, including one (1) year experience in a supervisory/leadership/teaching role, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Completion of applicable Canadian Nursing Association (CNA) certificate in the designated clinical area and/or completion of post graduate course work and/or certification applicable to the designated clinical area.

Integrates best practice from nursing and health-related disciplines and the humanities, arts and sciences disciplines into professional practice.
  • Human Caring and Relationship Centered Practice – Ability to promote client-focused care that demonstrates care for and with clients and significant others, sensitive to diverse cultures and preferences, client advocacy and social justice concerns.
  • Communication – Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with the clients, families, the public, medical staff and the members of the interdisciplinary team using verbal, written and computer communication means.
  • Critical Thinking – Demonstrated ability to integrate and evaluate pertinent data (from multiple sources) to problem-solve effectively.
  • Innovation: Demonstrated ability to challenge conventional practices; adapt established methods for new uses; pursue ongoing system improvement; and evaluate new technology as potential solutions to existing problems.
  • Tolerance of Ambiguity: Able to deal with unresolved situations, frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
  • Teaching – Ability to transmit information intended to instruct clients and others about topics essential to health care and well-being.
  • Assessment and Intervention – Demonstrated ability to complete initial and ongoing client assessments (clinical and diagnostic reasoning) and provide nursing care through appropriate/ prescribed technical, therapeutic, safety type interventions.
  • Ability to operate related equipment including proven ability to utilize computer technology.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
