Overview We require a skilled, enthusiastic person who is willing to learn, support teaching and learning and address the personal needs of our learners. You will need to be flexible and adaptable, a good communicator, cheerful, calm and be able to work as part of our team. The East Specialist Inclusive Learning Centre (SILC) is a 2-19 generic special school with 470 learners on roll. All our learners have special learning needs and some have physical/medical difficulties. SILC operates on a variety of sites to provide outreach services across the city, including partnerships with primary and secondary providers, city-wide Physical Difficulties and Medical Service, a moving and handling service, and the Medical Needs Teaching Service for Leeds.

Join our expanding school community as a Level 1 teaching assistant. These roles could be based at one of our main sites:
John Jamieson, Roger Cannon, Jack Clark or at one of our partnership sites:
Temple Moor High School or The Bridge Community Centre.Responsibilities
  • Support teaching and learning for students with special learning needs.
  • Address the personal needs of learners, including those with physical difficulties.
  • Work as part of an inclusive team across multiple sites.
  • Adopt a flexible and adaptable approach, and communicate effectively and cheerfully.
  • Participate in a thorough induction programme and continuous professional development.
  • Complete a self-disclosure form before interview and pass an enhanced DBS check and medical clearance.

Job Conditions
  • Permanent full‑time Level 1 teaching assistant positions with a 6‑month probationary period.
  • Opportunity to develop specialist skills within behaviour support and SEND.
  • Eligibility to apply requires right to work in the UK; otherwise sponsorship through the Skilled Worker visa route may be required.
