Position Title: Social Studies TeacherWork Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 7:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. (EST); required participation in designated Yeti Fridays and select school events Position SummaryThe Social Studies Teacher provides dynamic, faith-integrated instruction across the fields of history, civics, geography, economics, and cultural studies. This role encourages students to become informed, ethical, and engaged citizens who understand how Biblical principles shape human history and social responsibility. The teacher fosters a learning environment that connects past and present, emphasizes critical thinking, and integrates a Biblical worldview into the exploration of global and national issues. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain a consistent on-campus presence from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday.
  • Participate in “Yeti Fridays” (first Friday of each month during the first semester) and assist with all scheduled programs and student activities.
  • Teach up to seven courses or levels of Social Studies, which may include U.S. History, World History, Civics/Government, Geography, or Economics, as assigned by the Principal.
  • Design and lead up to three college courses per semester in conjunction with the Erie County Community College.
  • Develop engaging lesson plans that balance academic rigor with Biblical principles of leadership, stewardship, and justice.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional methods—discussion, research projects, debates, and technology—to build historical understanding and civic literacy.
  • Integrate faith and learning by teaching students to examine social systems, cultures, and governments through a Christian worldview.
  • Develop and maintain one extracurricular initiative (e.g., Mock Trial team, Debate Club, Model U.N., or Student Leadership Forum) throughout the academic year.
  • Participate in faculty morning devotions and meetings, offering insight, reflection, and collegial support.
  • Attend all mandatory school functions, including but not limited to orientation, graduation, commencement, parent events, and other official gatherings designated by school leadership.
  • Conduct parent–teacher conferences each semester and communicate regularly with families regarding student progress, academic achievement, and personal growth.
  • Encourage students to apply Biblical ethics in modern civic contexts, promoting moral reasoning and accountability.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in History, Social Studies Education, Political Science, or related field required; Master’s degree required.
  • Demonstrated success teaching Social Studies at the middle or high school level.
  • Alignment with the school’s Christian mission and statement of faith, with the ability to integrate Scripture thoughtfully into instruction.
  • Strong communication, classroom management, and instructional design skills.
  • Commitment to professional growth, cross-department collaboration, and continuous improvement in teaching practice.

Work Authorization and SponsorshipErie Preparatory Academy welcomes applications from qualified international candidates. The school is authorized and willing to support employment eligibility under F‑1 OPT (Optional Practical Training) or similar student work authorization programs. For long-term positions, employment visa sponsorship (such as H‑1B or other categories) may be considered for highly qualified candidates, subject to federal eligibility and institutional need.Pay: $40,000.00 - $50,000.00 per yearWork Location: In person
