ECPs provide primary, urgent, and community-based healthcare, often helping patients avoid unnecessary emergency department visits or hospital admissions. Typical Extended Care Paramedic job descriptionAccording to the Paramedic Council of New Zealand, ECPs specialise in managing low-acuity but complex health conditions in community settings. Main responsibilitiesAssess and treat patients in homes, clinics, aged care, or community settingsPerform urgent clinical assessments and triageManage minor injuries and illnessesProvide wound care and suturingOrder tests such as blood work and X-rays (often under GP supervision)Administer medications under standing ordersConduct telehealth consultationsRefer patients to GPs, specialists, or hospital servicesHelp reduce hospital admissions and ED overcrowdingWork with multidisciplinary healthcare teams including doctors and nursesPay: $7,000.00 – $7,700.00 per monthBenefits:
