Overview This post is a new post which has been created to manage the increasing demand upon the Oculoplastic service. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the existing Oculoplastic team to deliver a high quality and timely service to the local population. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to shape and contribute to the development of the service and will also work closely with the current team of consultant colleagues and participate in a 1 in 10 on call rota (both weekday and weekend).
The final allocation of patient contact time, including theatre and clinics, will be agreed in discussion with the Clinical Director. The successful applicant will participate in outpatient activity leading and managing both specialist Oculoplastic and general ophthalmology clinics, be involved in preoperative management prior to surgery, and in all aspects of the operative care of the patients. It is anticipated that the surgeon will spend the equivalent of two sessions in the operating theatre and three/four sessions a week in outpatient clinic in addition to administrative, management, clinical governance and supporting professional activity duties.
S/he will work closely with clinical colleagues, nursing staff and other allied health care professionals to enhance the level of patient care at the Trust. The role involves involvement in both ophthalmology and oculoplastic services with opportunities for involvement in MR and related clinics where relevant.
