Job description

This isn't just another management job. It's a structured pathway to leading one of our venues — and building the skills to one day run your own hospitality business. At Helliwell Hospitality Group — venues located in Mooloolaba, Maroochydore and Nambour — we don't simply hire managers, we develop business leaders. You'll work directly alongside experienced directors with a proven track record of building and operating successful hospitality venues, following a structured development program with clear standards, defined milestones and measurable results. You'll gain the commercial knowledge, leadership capability and operational discipline to take your career to the next level — with a team and mentors who invest in you for the long term. If you're looking for predictable 9-to-5 shifts, minimal responsibility and somewhere to simply clock in and out, this position isn't for you. If you're driven by results, calm and decisive under pressure, and you take pride in doing things properly — accurate numbers, consistent standards, systems that work — keep reading. Visa pathway: commence on a Subclass 407 Training visa with a defined progression plan toward longer-term sponsored visa options. Within 2 years: lead a business. Build a team. Deliver results — consistently. We're looking for a commercially minded front-of-house hospitality professional, ready to be developed, who will take ownership of the day-to-day running and long-term performance of one of our flagship Sunshine Coast venues. You'll have real influence over revenue, profitability, labour performance, guest experience, culture, marketing initiatives and operational excellence — while working closely with the venue manager and directors to ensure every shift runs smoothly, every standard is upheld and every decision moves the business forward. What You'll Own
  • Day-to-day venue operations and shift leadership
  • Revenue growth and profitability
  • Labour cost management and rostering efficiency
  • Stock control, purchasing and supplier relationships
  • Team recruitment, coaching and development
  • Guest experience and service standards
  • Financial reporting and KPI analysis
  • Marketing and local-area initiatives
  • Continuous improvement projects and systems
  • Venue presentation, compliance and brand standards

What Success Looks Like — Measured, Not Guessed
  • Revenue targets consistently achieved or exceeded
  • Labour and cost of goods maintained within budget, tracked weekly
  • Outstanding guest satisfaction scores
  • A highly engaged, well-trained and stable team
  • Strong culture with excellent staff retention
  • Documented, continuous improvement in profitability and operational efficiency
  • Smooth, well-run shifts with minimal escalation required

Who You Are You don't wait to be told what to do — you see opportunities where others see problems. You enjoy taking ownership, making decisions and being accountable for results. You're consistent and dependable — the person the team relies on shift after shift, who follows through on what they commit to. You respect the details: you know that accurate stocktakes, tight rosters, correct compliance and well-kept standards are what make a venue run — and you like getting them right. You're equally comfortable leading a busy Friday night service, analysing a P&L line by line, coaching a supervisor, or building a system that makes the business better. You probably have experience in:
  • Hospitality front of house — bar, bistro, restaurant, gaming, functions, guest experience
  • A supervisory or shift-leadership role

Most importantly, you're ambitious. You want to keep learning, developing and steadily building a long-term career — not just collecting another payslip. What You'll Bring
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen
  • Experience improving venue performance, with results you can point to
  • Labour and wage management experience
  • Confidence leading, coaching and developing teams
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong problem-solving ability
  • High personal accountability
  • Respect for compliance and standards: current RSA, current RSG, Approved Manager Licence (or willingness to obtain)

What We Offer
  • Competitive salary package with salary packaging options
  • Visa sponsorship and a defined visa pathway
  • Performance incentives linked directly to measurable business results
  • A structured, documented training and development program — clear milestones, regular reviews, no guesswork
  • A clear, step-by-step pathway into senior leadership and executive management
  • One-on-one mentoring from experienced hospitality directors who are invested in your long-term success
  • Personal leadership and business development coaching
  • Ongoing professional development, fully supported
  • Development across a stable, growing group of venues on the Central Sunshine Coast
  • The security of joining one of Queensland's leading hospitality groups — and the opportunity to influence its future growth

Training & Visa Sponsorship Pathway Helliwell Hospitality Group supports genuine talent, including candidates who may not yet hold Australian work rights. For the right candidate, we're open to supporting a structured workplace training program under the Subclass 407 Training visa (Occupational Training to Enhance Skills stream). This may suit applicants who:
  • Have the equivalent of at least 12 months' full-time experience in a relevant hospitality management occupation within the last 24 months, or
  • Hold a relevant qualification where practical, workplace-based training is a mandatory requirement to complete the award
  • Have functional English language skills

Under this pathway, successful candidates take part in a structured, workplace-based training program (minimum 30 hours per week, with at least 70% delivered on the job), tailored to their development needs and aligned with this role — documented, reviewed and supported at every stage. If this applies to you, please let us know in your application — we would be happy to walk you through exactly what the training program and sponsorship process involve.Your Career Starts Here The people who succeed in this role don't just become better managers — they become business operators. They learn how to read financials, build high-performing teams, grow revenue, control costs, lead people and think commercially — the same skills required to own or operate successful hospitality businesses. And they build those skills the reliable way: step by step, with structure, mentoring and real accountability. If you're hungry to learn, prepared to work diligently and ready to build something bigger than yourself — with a group that will back you for the long term — we'd love to hear from you.Apply Now Send your resume with a short cover letter telling us how you've improved a venue, grown revenue, developed a team or delivered measurable business results — include specific numbers where you can.
