MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:As a Chef in our Japanese restaurant, you will be responsible for creating authentic Japanese cuisine while maintaining the highest standards of food quality and presentation. Your responsibilities will include:- Creating various types of sushi and sashimi, including nigiri, maki, and specialty rolls- Preparing and cooking hot dishes including ramen, udon, tempura, and bento box items- Managing daily food preparation and cooking operations in the kitchen- Supervising and coordinating with the kitchen hand for ingredient preparation and kitchen cleanliness- Maintaining proper food storage and handling procedures- Checking the quality of ingredients and final dishes before service- Creating seasonal menu items and daily specials- Managing inventory and placing orders with suppliers- Training junior staff in Japanese cooking techniques and food presentation- Ensuring the kitchen operates efficiently during service hoursSKILLS & EXPERIENCEQualifications:- Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent international qualification- Food Safety Supervisor certification- Food handling certificateExperience:- Minimum 1 years experience in Japanese cuisine- Previous experience in a busy restaurant kitchen- Experience in staff supervisionSkills:- Expert knowledge of Japanese cooking techniques and traditions- Strong sushi and sashimi preparation skills- Excellent knife skills, particularly in fish preparation- Knowledge of traditional and modern Japanese ingredients- Ability to maintain consistency in food quality and presentation- Strong communication and leadership skills- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment- Understanding of food costing and portion control- Proficiency in kitchen organisation and cleanliness- Physical stamina for long periods of standing and working in a hot kitchenThe successful candidate will join our passionate team in delivering authentic Japanese dining experiences to our customers. You will have the support of a kitchen hand who assists with basic preparation tasks, allowing you to focus on the skilled aspects of Japanese cuisine preparation.Job Type: Full-timePay: $75,000.00 – $80,000.00 per yearBenefits:
