The leadership team is small and has built and scaled major SaaS companies before, and AI runs through both the product and the way the team works.
About the role
A hands-on backend role with ownership from day one. You'll report to the Head of Engineering on a small, fast-moving team and lead major product initiatives, including the systems behind the company's AI financial analysis engine.
How you think and whether you care about the product matter more here than your CV. You'll work close to customers, make the technical calls yourself, and ship features that go straight into production. The draw is autonomy, hard technical problems, and meaningful equity in a company on a clear path to profitability.
Role responsibilities

• Take new features from idea to production, work out what customers need, then design, build and ship it end to end.
• Build scalable backend services and APIs in Python and FastAPI, applying distributed-systems patterns where they fit.
• Work directly with customers and finance teams to turn business problems into technical solutions, and own the trade-offs that go with it.
• Use AI tooling across your workflow to ship faster, it's part of how this team builds day to day.
• Improve reliability, observability and developer experience as the platform and team grow.

Role requirements
Essential

• 2+ years as a backend-leaning software engineer shipping production code.
• Strong Python, experience with modern API frameworks like FastAPI, and a good grasp of distributed-systems patterns.
• A product mindset, you care about solving the customer's problem, not just closing the ticket.
• Comfortable owning work end to end and moving quickly in an early-stage setup.
• Happy working directly with non-technical people and making pragmatic calls.

Desirable

• Experience with data tooling like DuckDB and dbt.
• Some TypeScript or front-of-stack ability.
• A background in fintech, finance or other data-heavy products.

• Salary: $150K–$250K, plus competitive equity
• Location & model: Greater Boston area, hybrid (two days a week in the office)
• Type: Full-time
