Full Professor (W3) in Neuropathology Faculty of Medicine/Uniklinik RWTH Aachen We are inviting applicants for the position in the area of Neuropathology. The starting date is August 1, 2027. A distinguished individual is sought who will represent the entire field of Neuropathology in research, teaching, and patient care. The professorship is associated with the directorship of the Institute of Neuropathology, the Chair of Neuropathology, and the Medical Care Center (MVZ). Profound expertise in molecular neuro-oncological diagnostics is a prerequisite. Applicants are expected to demonstrate internationally recognized scientific achievements in a modern research field within Neuropathology. The research profile should strengthen the existing research priorities of the Medical Faculty. In addition, excellent success in acquiring third-party funding, outstanding publication records, and extensive teaching experience are expected. The Institute of Neuropathology has a flagship role and serves as a German reference center for neuromuscular diseases. The continuation and further development of the reference network for neuromuscular diseases, as well as active participation in the German Motor Neuron Disease Network (MND-NET), are desirable. Interdisciplinary scientific co-operation with other departments and clinics of the Medical School, with the research areas of the RWTH Aachen University including SFB TRR 219, SFB 1382, KFO 344, KFO 5011, GRK 2375, GRK 2415, GRK 2610, PAK 961, CIOABCD, JARA, IZKF AACHEN, with the Institute of Biomedical Technologies (IBMT) and with other technical disciplines are encouraged. In addition, an active commitment in the degree programs of the Medical Faculty is also expected. Representation of Neuropathology within clinical and scientific center structures, such as the NGS Diagnostics Center, the Epilepsy Center, and the Center for Personalized Medicine, is expected. The requirements include a doctoral degree, board certification in neuropathology and additional research experience, such as a habilitation (post-doctoral lecturing qualification) or equivalent achievements gained as a university researcher or professor or in a research position outside academia. Teaching ability and dedication are essential and the application should include proof of this. Fluent German is not required to start the position but the successful candidate will be expected to hold classes in German within the first 5 years.
