Field Technician – Lodestone Energy

Field Technician Lodestone Energy | New Zealand Support New Zealand’s Renewable Energy FutureLodestone Energy is seeking a motivated Field Technician to help maintain and optimise utility-scale solar farms across New Zealand. This hands-on role is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing solar generation equipment to ensure maximum performance, reliability, and energy production. What You'll Do

• Solar Farm Operations
• Perform routine inspections of solar farm equipment and assets.
• Monitor solar panel performance and energy generation output.
• Identify, investigate, and report equipment faults or abnormalities.
• Support efficient operation of solar generation facilities.

Maintenance & Repairs

• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
• Inspect and maintain inverters, transformers, switchgear, and cabling.
• Replace faulty components and equipment as required.
• Assist with testing and commissioning of new solar installations.

Monitoring & Reporting

• Use monitoring and control systems to track plant performance.
• Record maintenance activities, inspections, and repair work.
• Prepare technical reports and maintenance documentation.
• Escalate significant faults and operational issues to engineering teams.

Health, Safety & Compliance

• Follow workplace health and safety procedures at all times.
• Conduct risk assessments before maintenance activities.
• Ensure compliance with electrical, environmental, and operational regulations.
• Participate in emergency response and site safety initiatives.

Team Collaboration

• Work closely with engineers, contractors, and operations teams.
• Support external service providers during maintenance projects.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and operational efficiency initiatives.

What We're Looking For

• NZ Certificate in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Trade Qualification, or a related technical qualification.
• Basic understanding of electrical systems and renewable energy equipment.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Full New Zealand Driver’s Licence.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Desirable Skills

• Experience in solar farms, electrical utilities, or industrial maintenance.
• Electrical registration or current practising licence.
• Experience with SCADA, monitoring, or control systems.
• First Aid and Working at Heights certifications.
• Knowledge of renewable energy operations and maintenance practices.
