Job description
How to apply
We support visa sponsorship and relocation, so tell us where you are based and we will take it from there.
Company descriptionForgis is building the intelligent layer for manufacturing plants, an orchestration platform that integrates machines across vendors, hardware types, and applications. On top of this, we bring real-time intelligence: digital engineers that learn from data, make decisions, and continuously optimize production, from configuring and validating lines to predicting failures and guiding operators. From one interface, Forgis turns disconnected automation into a unified, adaptive system: the factory’s brain.
Automation EngineerAs an Automation Engineer at Forgis, you will own the layer that connects real machines to our platform. You will operate at the intersection of cutting-edge technology and real-world industrial problems, turning heterogeneous equipment across vendors into a single, controllable system that our digital engineers can reason about.
Responsibilities

You will operate at the intersection of cutting-edge technology and real-world industrial problems, turning heterogeneous equipment across vendors into a single, controllable system that our digital engineers can reason about.
Responsibilities
- Integrating: On the factory floor, connecting PLCs, robots, and vendor equipment onto Forgis across industrial protocols (OPC-UA, MQTT, Modbus, Profinet).
- Bringing up: Taking new production lines online end to end, validating data flows and confirming the platform controls them reliably.
- Deploying: Installing and configuring our technology on-site, wiring in PLCs, robots, and existing controls to ensure smooth deployment.
- Commissioning: Getting new lines up and running safely, then validating everything works reliably before handover.
This role is ideal for you if
- Master's degree from a top university (e.g. TUM, UCL, Oxford, PoliMi, INSA) in robotics, mechatronics, controls, electrical engineering, computer science, or related fields.
- Proven technical achievements: complex systems shipped or robotics and automation projects taken from prototype to working hardware.
- Strong software engineering and hands-on coding, including real-time or embedded systems.
- Familiarity with industrial control systems and protocols (PLCs, OPC UA, MQTT, Modbus, Profinet, EtherCAT) and how to integrate heterogeneous equipment across vendors.
- Solid grasp of automation fundamentals: motion control, sensors and actuators and safety.
- You debug confidently across software, networking, and machine layers, and are comfortable owning integrations end to end on the plant floor.
