We are partnered with a well-established organisation within the mental health sector that are seeking to expand their team by appointing a Lead Consultant Forenstic Psychiatrist. As the medical lead, you will be instrumental in upholding clinical excellence and supporting the delivery of safe, effective, and compassionate care across the service. This service provides rehabilitation and low secure services for women (18+) that display various mental illnesses including personality disorder.
This service has an overall "Good" QCQ rating, has excellent working facilities and great transport links.
Essential:
  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
  • Full GMC registration with licence to practice
  • MRCPsych or MRCPsych equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists
  • Section 12(2) approval, Approved Clinician status
  • Clinical training and experience required for gaining UK CCT
  • Experience in assessing and managing patients within psychiatric rehabilitation settings
  • Proven track record as a Consultant Psychiatrist, demonstrating strong clinical leadership within multidisciplinary teams
  • Active involvement in service development and governance activities; prior formal management experience is advantageous but not essential


Job Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrates the ability to work in partnership with service users and multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, effective, and recovery-focused care
  • Experienced in leading and coordinating complex care pathways, including oversight of multidisciplinary reviews and statutory processes such as CPA, ICR, and CTR
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain strong collaborative relationships with external stakeholders, including Integrated Care Boards and partner agencies
  • Skilled in undertaking thorough and clinically robust psychiatric assessments, particularly within specialist services for women
  • Confident in producing high-quality written reports and delivering clear oral evidence in formal settings, including First-tier Tribunal and Hospital Managers’ hearings
  • Committed to delivering evidence-based interventions in line with NICE guidelines and current best practice standards
  • Experienced in medication management and in developing personalised, recovery-oriented care plans in collaboration with service users


Please note this role also requires participation in remote On-Call duties (1 in 8).
