You probably always have been. And at some point, you discovered something more interesting than the subject itself: the moment it lands for someone who had given up on it.That moment is what this role is built around.This is a specialist school in East Surrey supporting pupils aged 7 to 16 with Autism and Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. These are young people who have often spent years in settings that were not designed for them. Maths, for many of them, carries a history of frustration, anxiety, and feeling like they are simply not built for it.You will change that. Not through a scripted lesson plan, but by actually knowing your subject and knowing how to read a room.Classes are small. Every lesson has a Teaching Assistant alongside you. The curriculum is structured but flexible, designed to let you adapt your approach to what each pupil needs on any given day. You will be trusted to use your judgement.At the heart of the school is a headteacher who is genuinely invested in the people who work there.
