**Full-Time Contracting Crew Member – Sheep Contracting (Shearing, Crutching & Tailing)** Location: Otago Region, New Zealand Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent Pay Rate: $35.00 per hour Hours: Minimum 30 hours per week About the Company We are a well-established rural contracting business providing sheep shearing, crutching and tailing services to farms throughout the Otago region. We are seeking an experienced and reliable crew member to join our team on a full-time permanent basis. About the Role The successful candidate will work as part of a sheep contracting crew assisting with shearing, crutching and tailing operations across multiple farm properties. This is a physically demanding role requiring practical livestock handling skills and experience working in a fast-paced rural environment. This role may suit someone with previous sheep or livestock farming experience who is looking for a change and is interested in working within a sheep contracting crew. Key Responsibilities * Assisting with sheep shearing and crutching operations * Working as part of a tailing crew during the lambing season * Handling and moving sheep safely within yards * Setting up, operating and packing down shearing/crutching trailers and equipment * Cleaning and maintaining equipment and work areas * Supporting the team to ensure efficient and safe completion of farm operations * Following animal welfare and health & safety practices Work Schedule * Minimum of 30 hours guaranteed per week * Typically a five-day work week * Some weekend work may be required during peak tailing and shearing seasons Skills and Experience Required * Minimum of 2 years’ experience working for a sheep contractor or on a sheep farming operation * Practical experience assisting with shearing, crutching or tailing operations** * Experience setting up and packing down shearing or farm equipment and trailers * Good livestock handling skills and strong stock sense * Ability to work well within a team in a physically demanding rural environment Additional Information * Applicants must be physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in rural conditions * Accommodation assistance may be available for the right candidate Important Notice We are committed to hiring suitably qualified New Zealand workers where available.
