- Prepare and cook high-quality dishes in accordance with the restaurant’s standards and recipes
- Supervise and assist junior kitchen staff, ensuring smooth workflow during service
- Oversee food preparation, ensuring all meals are prepared efficiently and presented attractively
- Maintain strict adherence to food safety and hygiene regulations at all times
- Assist in the development of new menu items and seasonal specials
- Ensure that all kitchen equipment is maintained in excellent condition and report any faults promptly
- Collaborate with the Head Chef to manage stock levels, minimise waste, and control costs
- Support training programmes for junior team members to uphold service standards
- Ensure cleanliness of workstations before, during, and after shifts
Skills
- Extensive experience in food preparation and cooking within a professional kitchen setting
- Strong culinary skills with a good understanding of various cooking techniques
- Proven ability to manage time effectively during busy service periods
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in hygiene management
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail in meal presentation
- Ability to work well under pressure whilst maintaining high standards of quality
- Good communication skills to coordinate effectively with team members and front-of-house staff
- Previous restaurant experience is highly desirable, along with serving knowledge that enhances guest satisfaction
