Position: Locum Consultant in Gynaecology with SI in Gynaecological US and EP
Location: Greater London
Locum Consultant in Gynaecology with SI in Gynaecological US and EP University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH) is seeking to appoint a Locum Consultant in General Gynaecology. The role requires a special interest in early pregnancy and acute gynaecology and involves 10 sessions per week, including outpatient clinics, multidisciplinary meetings and surgical operating lists. Site: UCLH, Elizabeth Garrett Anderson Wing – London Contract:
Fixed term, 12 months (due to limited funding) Hours:
Full time – 10 sessions per week (role may include Saturday operating depending on theatre and clinic space availability) Salary: £113,565 – £150,569 per annum plus London weighting (On‑call Cat A 3%) Closing date: 07/06/2026 23:59Main Duties

- Participate in outpatient clinics, multidisciplinary meetings and surgical operating lists.
- Join the gynaecology consultant on‑call rota and respond to gynaecological emergencies.
- Engage in clinical audit, data collection and clinical research within the established governance framework.
- Work within a multidisciplinary team, ensuring excellent interpersonal and team‑working skills.
Person Specification Professional Qualifications
- Eligible for full registration with the GMC at the time of appointment and hold a current licence to practice.
- Meet one of the following: have a CCST and be on the specialist register; be within 6 months of obtaining your CCST; or be a locally employed doctor, specialty doctor or specialist grade who submits an evidence portfolio to the GMC via the Portfolio Pathway and achieves specialist register status within six months of appointment.
- MRCOG or equivalent.
- RCOG ATSM/SITM in early pregnancy and acute gynaecology or equivalent.
- ATSM or SITM in gynaecological surgical care.
Clinical Experience
- Clinical training and experience in gynaecology equivalent to UK CCT level.
- Extensive experience in early pregnancy and acute gynaecological care.
- Experience running an early pregnancy or gynaecological assessment unit.
- Specialist gynaecology ultrasound training from a tertiary centre.
Clinical Skills
- High level skills in gynaecological ultrasound and management of early pregnancy complications and gynaecological cancer diagnosis.
- Broad range of operating skills in benign gynaecology including MVA and outpatient hysteroscopy.
- Independent practice in most benign and emergency gynaecological surgery.
Clinical Knowledge
- Good knowledge of the aetiology, diagnosis and management of benign gynaecological conditions and early pregnancy complications.
Audit, Quality Improvement, Management & IT
- Evidence of clinical audit and quality improvement activity.
- Proven leadership and management skills to support the development of the service.
- Ability to adopt the use of electronic patient management systems.
Research, Teaching, Skills & Experience
- Evidence of commitment to education, training and teaching.
- Peer review publication in the field of gynaecology or early pregnancy.
- Involvement in recruitment to multicentre trials.
- Good Clinical Practice (GCP) in research certification.
