Resident Doctor – Critical Care
The Harley St Clinic, London, 35 Weymouth St, W1G 8BJResponsibilities
  • Provide day‑to‑day medical care in the Critical Care Ward and ITU units, from admission to discharge.
  • Act independently in clerking new planned and unplanned admissions.
  • Conduct daily ward rounds and respond to medical emergencies.
  • Perform medical procedures as directed by the lead consultant, including vascular access (central venous and arterial lines), airway management (intubation, tracheostomy care), acute pain management (epidural catheters), ultrasound guidance, ventilatory management and optional procedures such as chest/abdominal drain insertion and lumbar puncture.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, audits and continuous professional development activities.

Qualifications
  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
  • Fully registered with the GMC and holding a current licence to practice.
  • Post‑graduate qualification FRCA, FICM, MRCEM or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience in Intensive Care Medicine or Anaesthesia to ST5 and above (or equivalent).
  • Independent competency in complex airway management and capable of supervising junior staff.
  • Demonstrated teaching and mentoring skills for junior doctors.
  • Current ALS certificate.
  • Completion of a Cardiothoracic Intensive Care module is desirable.
