Job description

Description Are you an experienced veterinarian ready to step into a respected Lead Veterinarian role within a stable, supportive clinic? Vetwest Wanneroo is seeking a Lead Vet who enjoys both consulting and surgery, values collaboration, and wants to mentor and lead within an already high-functioning team - without inheriting a clinic that needs fixing. About Vetwest Wanneroo Vetwest Wanneroo is a long-established clinic located close to Wanneroo Central Shopping Centre and Lake Joondalup, offering a relaxed, community-focused environment with strong client relationships and excellent team longevity. You will be joining a highly experienced and settled team of four veterinarians, supported by an exceptionally strong nursing cohort. The Practice Manager is also a nurse, the Head Nurse has been with the clinic for 20 years, and of our ten nurses most have between 10 and 20 years' tenure. The clinic consistently rosters a minimum of three vets per day, ensuring strong support, collaboration, and sustainable workloads. The culture is social, relaxed, and professional - the team enjoys small social events, games during meetings, and regular catch-ups while maintaining high clinical standards. Clinic Setup & Facilities The clinic is spacious, modern, and well resourced, with a strong focus on Fear Free and Cat Calm handling. Facilities include:
  • 3 consult rooms
  • Separate cat and dog waiting areas
  • Large waiting room and dedicated vet office
  • In-house Idexx lab + blood gas
  • Wet table and separate theatre
  • Digital X-ray, digital dental X-ray, and ultrasound
  • Dedicated cat ward and isolation ward
  • Large dog kennel room (6-8 runs)
  • Cattery with 22 condos, supported by a dedicated animal attendant
  • Separate staff room, kitchen, and a lovely outdoor eating area

The Role As Lead Veterinarian, you will remain hands-on clinically while providing leadership and mentorship across the team. You will support a developing veterinarian, lead case discussions, and proactively share up-to-date clinical knowledge to encourage continuous improvement. You will also play a key role in maintaining strong client relationships and fostering a positive, collaborative team culture. Close working relationships with other North of the River Vetwest clinics ensure there is always peer support available when needed. Rostering & Flexibility
  • Permanent part-time preferred (0.7 FTE / 31.5 hours per week), full-time also considered
  • Clinic hours: 8:30am - 7:00pm (some flexibility available)
  • 1 in 3 Saturdays, ideally with two vets rostered

Salary & Benefits
  • Salary package up to $150,000, commensurate with experience
  • $10000 Clinical Lead allowance

  • Visa sponsorship available for eligible candidates
