About the Role We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Vehicle Paint Technician to join our professional automotive repair team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, refinishing, colour-matching, and painting vehicles to manufacturer and industry standards, while ensuring exceptional quality and customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities Prepare vehicle surfaces for painting, including sanding, masking, priming, and filling. Mix and match paint colours using computerised colour-matching systems. Apply primers, base coats, clear coats, and specialist finishes. Repair paint defects and perform polishing and finishing work. Ensure all paintwork meets manufacturer and quality standards. Maintain paint booths, spray equipment, and tools. Follow health, safety, and environmental regulations, including safe handling of paint products and materials. Complete repair documentation and quality-control records. Essential Qualifications Applicants must possess one or more of the following: IMI Level 4 Diploma in Vehicle Accident Repair (Paint). NVQ Level 4 in Vehicle Body and Paint Operations (Paint Refinishing). City & Guilds Level 4 Diploma in Vehicle Paint Refinishing. Proven experience as a Vehicle Paint Technician, Spray Painter, or Automotive Refinisher. Preferred Higher Qualifications Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Automotive Engineering, Vehicle Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
Full UK Driving Licence. Higher National Diploma (HND) in Automotive Engineering, Vehicle Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline. Bachelor's Degree (BEng/BSc) in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field. Master's Degree (MSc/MEng) in Automotive Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related discipline. Manufacturer-approved Paint Technician Accreditation. Skills and Competencies Excellent paint preparation and refinishing skills. Strong colour-matching and blending abilities. Knowledge of modern paint systems, coatings, and repair techniques. High attention to detail and quality standards. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong problem-solving and time-management skills.
