Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Database Administrator to manage and optimise our organisation’s database systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the availability, performance, and security of our databases, supporting various applications and data-driven processes. Duties

Design, implement, and maintain robust database architectures using platforms such as MySQL, Oracle, and Microsoft SQL Server.
Ensure high availability and disaster recovery solutions are in place to minimise downtime.
Perform performance tuning and optimisation of SQL queries, stored procedures, and overall database systems.
Develop and implement database security measures to protect sensitive information.
Manage database backups, restores, and replication processes to ensure data integrity.
Write and maintain complex PL/SQL, T-SQL, Bash (Unix shell), Shell Scripting, and other scripts for automation and system integration.
Monitor database performance metrics and troubleshoot issues proactively.
Collaborate with development teams on database design, schema optimisation, and application integration using SSIS or similar tools.
Document database configurations, procedures, and standards for compliance and knowledge sharing.

Experience

Proven experience in database administration across multiple platforms including MySQL, Oracle, Linux-based systems, and Microsoft SQL Server.
Strong understanding of high availability architectures such as clustering, replication, or mirroring.
Hands-on experience with database design principles and best practices for scalable systems.
Proficiency in performance tuning techniques for large-scale databases.
Skilled in writing complex SQL queries and stored procedures using PL/SQL or T-SQL.
Experience with scripting languages such as Bash (Unix shell) or Shell Scripting for automation tasks.
Familiarity with SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services) for data migration and ETL processes.
Knowledge of Linux server administration related to database hosting environments is desirable.
