Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Lloyds Insurance Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our dynamic team. This role involves providing expert guidance on insurance systems, supporting system architecture, and ensuring the seamless integration of IT solutions within the Lloyds insurance environment. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of IT systems, software development, and insurance processes, with a focus on delivering innovative solutions to optimise operational efficiency and compliance. This is a paid position suitable for professionals with a strong background in systems engineering and insurance technology. Responsibilities
  • Provide specialised expertise on Lloyds insurance processes, policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Analyse existing IT systems and architecture to identify areas for optimisation and enhancement.
  • Design, develop, and implement system solutions aligned with business needs, including system design and architecture.
  • Support system administration tasks across various platforms such as Windows, Linux, VMware, and Azure.
  • Manage and maintain databases using SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, and Microsoft SQL Server; ensure data integrity and security.
  • Develop and maintain APIs using REST, SOAP, and other web services to facilitate seamless integration between systems.
  • Implement load balancing, firewall configurations, VPNs, DHCP, DNS, and other network security measures to safeguard infrastructure.
  • Utilise programming languages such as Python, C#, JavaScript, Java, C++, Ruby on Rails, VBA, Bash (Unix shell), Shell Scripting for automation and development purposes.
  • Apply DevOps practices including continuous integration with Jenkins and Git to streamline development workflows.
  • Support microservices architecture using Kubernetes and Docker containers to enhance system scalability and resilience.
  • Ensure system security through information security best practices and compliance with industry standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on solution architecture projects involving service-oriented architecture (SOA), system design, SDLC methodologies, and system testing.
  • Provide expert advice on insurance-specific systems such as Pegasystems and Web services utilised within the Lloyds environment.

Requirements
  • Proven experience in IT systems engineering within the insurance sector or related fields.
  • Extensive knowledge of computer networking concepts including VPNs, firewalls, DNS/DHCP management.
  • Strong familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure for infrastructure deployment.
  • Proficiency in database management using SQL variants (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle) along with NoSQL databases.
  • Hands-on experience with operating systems including Windows, UNIX/Linux environments; VMware ESXi; ESXi hypervisors; Kubernetes; Virtualisation technologies.
  • Skilled in programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, C#, Java, C++, Ruby on Rails; shell scripting; VBA; T-SQL; PL/SQL.
  • Experience with DevOps tools like Jenkins and Git for continuous integration/delivery pipelines.
  • Knowledge of service-oriented architecture (SOA), microservices development (Kubernetes), RESTful APIs & web services (SOAP).
  • Understanding of information security principles relevant to financial services organisations.
  • Ability to interpret complex technical requirements into practical solutions aligned with SDLC principles.

Job Type: Fixed term contract
