Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) Integrated Operating Unit offers devices and therapies that treat patients with abnormal heart rhythms and heart failure.

We are comprised of three businesses:
  • Cardiac Pacing Therapies

  • Cardiovascular Diagnostics & Services

  • And Defibrillation Solutions

This position is in Mounds View, MN. within the Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) unit. At Medtronic, we bring bold ideas forward with speed and decisiveness to put patients first in everything we do. This role will require less than 10% of travel to enhance collaboration and ensure successful completion of projects.

A Day in the Life
In general, the following responsibilities apply for the Principal Software Cloud Test Engineer role. This includes, but is not limited to the following: The Principal Software Cloud Test Engineer will serve as the technical leader and be responsible for architecting, designing, building, and scaling software release management and configuration management system across the full technology stack consisting of cloud services (AWS), Windows application, and system integrations. This role combines deep hands-on engineering expertise with architectural leadership, technical decision-making, and mentorship. The Principal Software Cloud Engineer drives technical strategy, ensures engineering excellence, and partners closely with product teams and business stakeholders to deliver impactful solutions. In general, the following responsibilities apply for the Principal Software Engineer role. This includes, but is not limited to the following:
  • Lead and align all test engineers, ensuring consistent application of standards, patterns and best practices across multiple engineering teams.
  • Define and own the test architecture and automation strategy for cloud-native platforms, including microservices, API’s, event-driven systems and data pipelines.
  • Evaluate and introduce modern tools, frameworks and methodologies to continuously improve quality engineering capabilities.
  • Ensure execution of test plans and verification activities, actively monitoring progress, risks and quality outcomes to support delivery commitments.

  • Establish and maintain full traceability from software requirements through verification test design, execution and reporting.
  • Build a culture of shared ownership of quality across development and test engineering.

  • Drive continuous improvement through retrospectives, audits, and lessons learned.
  • Provide leadership in solving engineering problems and fostering creativity and innovation in design and problem solutions

  • Mentor and coach other engineers across the team on test design, automation best practices and quality engineering principles.
  • Represent your team to the wider organization.

The successful candidate will have:
  • Hands‑on experience with CI/CD platforms (AWS, Azure) and expertise in test automation tools and frameworks (e.g. Selenium, Playwright, Pytest, Junit).
  • Strong expertise in Windows application development (.Net, C#, C++, Java, JavaScript and Python)
  • Strong expertise in back-end development (AWS, C#, REST APIs, Databases).
  • Experience with behavior-driven and test-driven development practices, including Gherkin, YAML and related specifications.

Qualifications – Must Have - Minimum Requirements TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS ROLE, PLEASE BE SURE THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS ARE EVIDENT ON YOUR RESUME
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, engineering, or a related technical discipline and minimum of 7 years of work experience OR advanced degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, engineering, or a related technical discipline with 5 years of work experience.

Nice to Have
  • Experience in regulated or enterprise-scale environments
  • Knowledge of cloud and connected medical devices
  • Excellent collaboration skills across engineering, quality, and regulatory teams
  • Pragmatic decision‑making that balances compliance, security, and delivery velocity
  • Clear communication with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$146,400.00 - $219,600.00
This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP). The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others). The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance , Health Savings Account , Healthcare Flexible Spending Account , Life insurance, Long-term disability leave , Dependent daycare spending account , Tuition assistance/reimbursement , and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
