Job description

Location: Greater London

About Borderless At Borderless, we’re building a world where borders are no longer barriers - where anyone can move anywhere, seamlessly and safely. Founded in 2023, we’ve already helped 600+ UK businesses and 15,000+ individuals navigate the complexity of immigration. Powered by technology, and supported by an expert team, our platform removes the friction of Home Office compliance, visa processing and sponsor licence applications, making immigration faster, simpler and more accessible for everyone. Backed by Entrepreneur First and Backed.

VC, we’re scaling fast and in 2026 expanding into new sectors and markets to further accelerate our growth. Also, around 25% of our workforce is sponsored, and we proudly offer visa sponsorship as part of our hiring process.Role:
Head of FinanceWe’re looking for a Head of Finance to build and own the financial engine of Borderless - driving both the operational backbone and the commercial intelligence of the business. Reporting directly to our CEO, this is a high-impact, high-ownership role. You won’t just report numbers - you’ll define them, shape them, and use them to influence how the company grows. You’ll partner directly with leadership across Product, Sales, and Operations to improve decision‑making, optimise revenue, and drive efficiency across the business. You’ll operate as a true financial generalist
: comfortable in the detail, but always thinking about how finance unlocks growth.Success Definition 6–12 Month Outcomes
  • Build a scalable, high-quality finance function with strong processes and controls
  • Deliver best‑in‑class management reporting with clear, actionable insights
  • Establish clear unit economics and company‑wide metrics (e.g. revenue drivers, margins, cost‑to‑serve)
  • Own and continuously improve budgeting, forecasting, and cash visibility
  • Drive measurable improvements in pricing, revenue, and operational efficiency

Top 3 Priorities:
  • Build the financial engine
    • Create strong financial foundations across reporting, controls, and processes
    • Ensure the business has accurate, reliable, and timely financial data
  • Own commercial performance
    • Define and track the metrics that matter (unit economics, margins, ROI)
    • Use data to actively improve pricing, revenue, and cost efficiency
  • Be a strategic partner to the business
    • Work closely with Product, Sales, and Ops to guide decision‑making
    • Challenge assumptions, provide clarity, and influence direction
  • Day to DayOperational Excellence
    • Own all core financial processes including payroll, expense management, VAT returns, R&D claims and investor reporting.
    • Manage billing, payments, credit control, and debt collection
    • Prepare accurate management accounts and maintain strong financial controls

    Commercial & Strategic Impact
    • Lead pricing strategy and experimentation to optimise revenue per customer
    • Own budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and financial modelling
    • Define and track unit economics, margins, cost‑to‑serve, and departmental ROI
    • Evaluate and implement AI‑native finance tooling to scale the function without scaling headcount

    What Great Looks Like
    • 6+ years of experience in finance, ideally in a startup or high‑growth environment
    • Proven ability to operate both hands‑on and strategically
    • Strong financial modelling and analytical skills (advanced spreadsheets and BI tools)
    • AI‑native worker — you use AI tools to multiply your output and actively seek ways to automate repetitive finance work
    • Excellent communicator — able to clearly explain insights, challenge thinking, and influence decisions
    • Highly commercial — understands how finance drives growth, not just tracks it
    • Comfortable with ambiguity and building from scratch

    What We’re Not Looking For:
    • Purely reporting‑focused or backward‑looking finance profiles
    • Someone who avoids ownership or waits for direction
    • Low commercial awareness or reluctance to challenge stakeholders

    Interview Process
    • 30‑minute screening call with Talent
    • 45‑minute interview with Hiring Manager
