Mining Engineer - Medium / Long Term Planning

The operation:
George Fisher Mine (GFM) is a large-scale underground zinc-lead-silver operation based in Mt Isa, QLD. GFM has complex mining sequence, multiple operating fronts, and significant interactions among development, stoping, ventilation, backfill, infrastructure, services, and production readiness.
George Fisher has a long mine life and is a key strategic asset for Glencore globally.
The role:
The Mining Engineer - Medium to Long Term Planning is responsible for developing, maintaining and continuously improving Mid & Long term mine plans and schedules that support delivery of production and development targets.
Your ability to translate Translate Life-of-Mine and long-term planning strategies into practical medium-term mining sequences that optimise stope extraction, development timing, ventilation availability, and infrastructure readiness and that can be translated into short term plans will be critical.
The position can be Brisbane based, FIFO to Mt Isa or Mt Isa based.
Experience required:

• Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or related subject
• Demonstrated experience in underground hard rock mining, preferably with exposure to mine planning, scheduling or technical services roles.
• Experience using mine planning and design software (e.g. Deswik, Surpac or equivalent) for development planning, stope sequencing and schedule analysis.
• Strong understanding of underground mining methods, development requirements and production sequencing.
• Ability to interpret and integrate geological, geotechnical, ventilation and operational constraints into practical mine plans.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess planning risks, identify constraints and develop practical solutions.
