Job description
Backend Software Engineer (Seattle)
About the company
Our client is a heavily backed late-stage company building the kitchen infrastructure and software that power the next generation of food and beverage operators. They have raised over $850M, employ roughly 3,300 people, and operate at the intersection of real estate, logistics, AI, and robotics. Their mission is to help shape the $100B US online food delivery market by giving restaurants the tools to expand with minimal upfront capital and time.
The role
We are hiring Backend Engineers who want their code to move atoms in the real world. You will design, implement, and optimize the systems that keep mission-critical applications running across a global footprint.
What you'll do
• Build and operate backend systems at scale, spanning infrastructure, platform, and product surfaces.• Design RESTful APIs, microservices, and distributed systems that serve high-throughput, low-latency workloads.• Optimize storage and data flows across relational and NoSQL backends (Postgres, MongoDB, Redis).• Ship to AWS, GCP, or Azure with containerized workloads on Docker and Kubernetes.• Partner with infra, product, and ops teams to take ideas from spec to production.• Debug deep when things break, instrument when things are quiet, and raise the bar on reliability across the team.
What we're looking for
• 5+ years of backend software engineering experience.• Strong proficiency in Java or Go.• Hands-on experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases (Postgres, MongoDB, Redis).• Track record at high-growth tech startups, unicorns, or top public tech companies.• A degree in Computer Science or another STEM field.• Stable tenure (no more than two job changes in the past five years).• Willingness to work onsite 5 days/week in Seattle.
Bonus points
• Production experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure.• Background in containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and modern CI/CD.• Exposure to large-scale data processing or event-driven architectures.• Leadership experience on team projects or mentoring engineers.
Compensation and benefits
• Base salary: $190K to $210K.• Equity included.• Visa sponsorship: can sponsor H1B transfers and potentially Green Card transfers (I-140 after 6 months).• Relocation support provided for individuals and families.
Location and work model
