Job description

Investment Associate / Senior Associate | Renewable Energy IPP | SydneyA high-growth, institutionally backed clean energy platform is looking for an Investment Associate or Senior Associate to join a small, high-performing investments team in Sydney.
This is a role with real ownership and immediate impact. You'll work directly alongside senior leadership on live transactions — M&A, project acquisitions, project finance and asset management — across a diversified portfolio of solar, BESS, gas and network assets in Australia and New Zealand. The team is flat, the deal flow is real, and you will be expected to lead workstreams from day one rather than support them.
The business is backed by one of the world's largest global infrastructure investors and is in an active phase of growth — multiple acquisitions in motion, a significant development pipeline, and a leadership team that includes experienced operators from some of Australia's most respected renewable energy platforms.
What you'll be doing
  • Leading transaction execution across acquisitions and project development — coordinating due diligence, managing adviser relationships and driving processes through to financial close
  • Building and owning financial models across project and portfolio valuations, scenario analysis and investment appraisal
  • Preparing investment committee papers, board materials and strategic analysis for senior leadership and the fund
  • Acting as a key interface between the investment team, legal, technical and financial advisers across live deals
  • Contributing across the full deal lifecycle from origination and screening through to financial close and ongoing asset management

What we're looking for
  • 3–6 years of experience in renewable energy investment, infrastructure M&A, project finance, buy-side investment or Big 4 advisory (energy/infrastructure teams)
  • Strong financial modelling capability with direct exposure to energy, infrastructure or project finance transactions
  • Demonstrated experience leading or co-leading deal workstreams — this is not an analyst support role
  • Genuine energy sector knowledge — understanding of the Australian market, NEM dynamics, PPAs or project finance structures is a strong advantage
  • Organised, commercially sharp and comfortable taking ownership in a fast-moving, lean environment
  • Sydney-based or willing to relocate — visa sponsorship available for the right candidate

Why this role
  • Lead role on live, complex transactions from day one — real ownership, not support
  • Direct access to the CEO, VP Corporate Finance and a global infrastructure investor with USD 50BN+ AUM
  • Equity upside with a defined exit horizon — everyone in the business is working toward the same outcome
  • Flat structure, small high-calibre team, every person counts
  • Real pathway to grow into a senior role as the platform scales toward exit
