Position: Clinical Lecturer (SCREDS) (4 Posts)
Overview We have an exciting opportunity for Clinical Lectureships tenable in the School of Health and Wellbeing, University of Glasgow. This is a fixed‑term post (up to completion of CCT). Applicants must already hold a national training number (NTN) in General Practice at the time of applying and will be due to enter General Practice ST2 or ST3 in August 2026 or February 2027.Responsibilities
  • Develop a programme of research under the supervision of an established research leader within General Practice and Primary Care.
  • Publish an appropriate research study during the post, working with a senior academic.
  • Contribute to the undergraduate medical curriculum and/or postgraduate taught programmes within the School.
  • Undertake administrative duties pertinent to research and teaching commitments.
  • Undertake clinical training in the West of Scotland to achieve NHS competencies required for CCST in general practice.
  • Participate in the on‑call rota for the West of Scotland training scheme as required.

QualificationsEssential
  • Medical graduate with MBChB or equivalent.
  • Full registration with the General Medical Council.
  • National training number (NTN) at the time of taking up the post.
  • Knowledge of the organisation of UK general practice and primary care.
  • Due to enter ST2 or ST3 in August 2026 or February 2027.
  • Interest in general practice and primary care research.

Desirable
  • BSc or equivalent intercalated degree in medicine or a related subject.
  • Higher degree in medicine or a related subject.
  • Evidence of distinction in career to date (prizes, awards, bursaries).
  • Understanding of literature relevant to topic of research interest.
  • Evidence of publication or experience of writing.
  • Previous experience of presenting research findings.
  • Previous training or experience of designing or conducting research.
  • Existing research experience is an advantage.
  • Ability to respond quickly and flexibly to new developments and opportunities.

Job FeaturesSalary will be on the Clinical Academic Scale £49,492 – £74,591 per annum. The post will carry an additional entitlement depending on on‑call responsibilities via a separate arrangement with the NHS.
