Overview Junior Clinical Fellow in Urology – Cardiff and Vale University Health Board The closing date is 16 July 2026. There are 3 Junior Clinical Fellow posts available from 5 August 2026. The post will involve weekday clinical sessions and a 1:6 on-call rota. This post aims to provide training and development in clinical urology. The timetable can be tailored as required to optimise the candidate's chance of success at national selection for core surgical or specialty training.Job summaryThere are 3 Junior Clinical Fellow posts available from 5 August 2026. The post will involve weekday clinical sessions and a 1:6 on-call rota. This post aims to provide training and development in clinical urology. The timetable can be tailored as required to optimise the candidate's chance of success at national selection for core surgical or specialty training. Clinical Fellow and Clinical Research Fellow appointments are not educationally approved for training purposes and do not therefore attract a National Training Number. Posts do however offer the post holder excellent specialty experience within a university teaching hospital setting. In accordance with Health Board principles regarding Clinical Fellow appointments, posts are offered for a period of 12 months in the first instance, but may be extendable up to a maximum of 24 months by mutual agreement.Main duties of the jobPlease refer to the "Junior Clinical Fellow in Urology" job description and personal specification for more detail.   • Current GMC certificate with a licence to practise
  • Training in Radiation Protection or agreement to attend next available course

Desirable
  • Intercalated Degree
  • Academic Excellence (prizes, merits, distinctions etc.)

Previous Experience Essential
  • Completion of Foundation training

Desirable
  • Experience of dealing with Urological emergencies
  • Previous experience of working in a Urology Department (minimum of 4 months)

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities Essential
  • Demonstrable skills in written and spoken English adequate to enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues
  • Up to date with current medical practices
