An established, friendly small animal practice in Cumbria is looking for a caring and enthusiastic Veterinary Surgeon to join their supportive team. This is a 100% small animal, single-site practice offering a genuinely welcoming environment with a strong focus on high clinical standards and excellent client care.

This well-equipped practice is passionate about keeping a wide range of medical and surgical skills in primary care. The team works collaboratively, sharing knowledge and supporting one another while also encouraging individual interests and professional development.

Facilities include:

Digital x-ray (including dental)

Ultrasound and video endoscopy

In-house laboratory with biochemistry and haematology

Strong in-house diagnostic and investigative capabilities

The practice runs its own healthcare plans, allowing continuity of care for both preventative and illness-based treatments. Patients are treated to an exceptionally high standard, and the practice places real value on communication, teamwork, and a positive working culture.

The Role is as follows:

Full-time role (part-time considered)

15-minute consultations

Supported by an experienced team of Veterinary Surgeons, RVNs, SVNs, Animal Care Assistants and a dedicated front-of-house team

1:4 out-of-hours rota with consistent duty nights and one weekend per month

Any OOH work is fully remunerated

Flexible rota with scope to swap shifts when needed

The location offers an excellent work-life balance, with easy access to the Lake District and the Scottish Borders.

The Ideal Candidate:

At least some post-graduate experience in small animal practice

Confident with sole-charge consulting and routine procedures

A compassionate communicator who enjoys building long-term client relationships

A team player who is also comfortable using their own clinical judgement

Keen to continue developing skills and interests within a supportive environment

What's on Offer

Salary between £40,000 - £60,000 FTE, including OOH (DOE)

6.6 weeks' paid holiday including bank holidays

£1,750 CPD allowance plus 5 days CPD leave
