Job summary This vacancy attracts a Recruitment and Retention payment of £25,000 in addition to £8,000 relocation allowance. The RRP is pro rata for part time employees. We are looking for a skilled & committed Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Community Children and Young People Services (CYPS) team in North West Surrey, based at Unither House in Chertsey. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in supporting the mental health and wellbeing of children & young people up to the age of 18 across Runnymede, Spelthorne & Woking. You will work as part of a large, supportive multi-disciplinary team that includes psychologists, therapists, nurses, social workers & specialist practitioners. Together, you will provide assessment, diagnosis & treatment for a wide range of mental health & neurodevelopmental needs, including emotional difficulties, behavioural concerns, eating disorders, ADHD & complex presentations. The service also benefits from a single point of access for referrals, extended hours, and strong partnership working across Surrey. Your role will include offering clinical leadership, carrying out assessments, holding a consultant caseload, supporting MDT discussions, & providing guidance & supervision to colleagues. You will also contribute to service development, teaching, training, &quality improvement within a forward-thinking &expanding CAMHS partnership. Main duties of the job You'll have the opportunity of working within a well-established and friendly team of highly skilled professionals who are passionate and committed to the care needs of our children and young people. You would be responsible for providing a diagnostic, assessment and treatment service for children and adolescents with mental health problems within a multi-disciplinary approach to care, promoting high-quality multidisciplinary working and relationships. On average, A full-time consultant would do 2-3 monthly assessments and holds a caseload of approximately 60 in our service. Patients have a consultant review after 6 weeks of treatment in the team and then every 2-3 months. You will participate in an emergency out-of-hours rota, providing back-up for junior doctors and professionals in assessing young people seen in A&E. Our Offer:

  • MBBS or equivalent recognised medical qualification.
  • Full medical registration with a license to practice.
  • Approval under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act(or within 6 to 12 months of the time of interview/assessment) or equivalent

Desirable
  • Relevant higher degree, e.g. MD, PhD, MSc or other additional clinical qualifications
  • MRCPsych or equivalent
  • Management qualification or evidence of an interest in developing leadership skills.

Eligibility Essential
  • Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months

Desirable
  • Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within three months of appointment
  • In good standing with GMC concerning warnings and conditions on practice

Clinical Skills, Knowledge & Experience Essential
  • Knowledge of legislation, Department of Health Guidance and literature and its implications for clinical practice
  • Knowledge of NHS strategic vision in the Next Stage Review (High-Quality Care for All)
  • Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge
  • Ability to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty
  • Ability to meet duties under MHA and MCA
