Job Description:We are proud to be known as the best Latin restaurant in Australia, and we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chef to join our esteemed culinary team. As a Chef at our establishment, you will play a pivotal role in delivering an unparalleled dining experience, showcasing your creativity, mastery, and love for Latin American cuisine. You will be responsible for curating an exquisite menu that showcases the diverse flavours and culinary traditions of Venezuela and other Latin American countries. Your expertise will help shape our restaurant's reputation as a destination for authentic Latin American street food. Responsibilities:Key Responsibilities
1. Design and develop menu offerings that reflect the establishment’s Latin
American culinary identity, incorporating traditional and contemporary influences
while considering ingredient availability, seasonality, and customer preferences,
as well as estimating food and labour costs to support efficient kitchen operations
and inventory management.
2. Oversee the preparation and presentation of dishes to ensure consistency in
flavour, portioning, and visual standards across all service periods, maintaining a
high level of quality aligned with the venue’s dining experience.
3. Liaise closely with management and front-of-house staff to ensure seamless
coordination of service, effectively addressing operational requirements and
contributing to a consistent and well-organised customer experience.
4. Provide guidance and practical instruction to kitchen staff by demonstrating
cooking techniques and advising on preparation methods, timing, and plating
standards, ensuring uniformity and adherence to the establishment’s culinary
approach.
5. Prepare and cook a variety of menu items, applying professional culinary
techniques to ensure quality, efficiency, and timely service delivery, particularly
during busy operational periods.
6. Ensure full compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations by implementing
and reinforcing proper food handling, storage, and sanitation practices within the
kitchen environment.
7. Contribute to the recruitment, training, and supervision of kitchen staff,
supporting team development and ensuring that all personnel meet the
operational and quality standards of the business.
8. Apply appropriate food storage and preservation techniques, including
refrigeration and stock rotation practices, to maintain ingredient quality, minimise
waste, and optimise kitchen efficiency. Requirements:Extensive culinary experience (minimum 5 years) as a Chef specializing in Venezuelan and Latin American street food.In-depth knowledge of the diverse culinary traditions, ingredients, and techniques of Venezuelan cuisine, as well as broader Latin American gastronomy.Demonstrated expertise in crafting and executing authentic and innovative Latin American street food recipes.Proven leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and mentor kitchen staff.Exceptional organizational and time management abilities, excelling under pressure in a fast-paced environment.Impeccable standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety.Passion for delivering an extraordinary dining experience and a genuine love for Latin American cuisine.How to Apply:If you are a talented Chef with a deep understanding and passion for Venezuelan and Latin American street food, we invite you to apply for this exceptional opportunity.
