We are particularly interested in engineers with experience in:
Marine or offshore structural engineering
Class-approved marine structures
Large welded steel structures and structural integrity
Structural analysis including FEA, fatigue and load case development
Working directly with classification societies such as DNV, Lloyd’s Register, ABS, BV or ClassNK
Structural verification and design approval activities
Mechanical/structural design for manufacturable hardware
A fast-growing maritime technology business developing innovative wind-assisted propulsion systems is looking to appoint a Principal Marine Structural Engineer to join its expanding engineering team.
This is a rare opportunity to work on real climate-impact hardware that helps reduce fuel consumption and emissions across global shipping.
Working closely with the Head of Engineering, you will lead the structural development of key product subsystems from concept through detailed design to production-ready hardware. The role offers high levels of ownership within a collaborative, fast-paced engineering environment focused on solving real-world maritime challenges.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the structural and mechanical design of key subsystems
Develop and manage structural load cases across real-world marine operating conditions
Translate load cases into robust, manufacturable design solutions
Define structural design philosophy and ensure compliance with classification standards
Perform and oversee structural analysis, stress assessment and design verification
Lead technical engagement with classification societies
Support product development from concept through manufacture and testing
Contribute to continuous improvement of structural analysis tools and methods
Requirements
Degree qualified in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Structural Engineering
Approximately 5–10 years’ experience within marine, offshore or heavy structural engineering environments
Strong 3D CAD capability (Siemens NX, Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks or similar)
Experience with fatigue, buckling, welded structures and structural integrity assessment
Strong understanding of DFMA and manufacturability
Comfortable working in a hands-on, fast-moving engineering environment
