To be eligible for this position you must be TS3 or above at commencement of contract. Emergency Department Rotations will include both The Canberra Hospital and North Canberra Hospital. Canberra Health Services (CHS) is focussed on the delivery of high quality, effective, person-centred care. It provides acute, sub-acute, primary and community‐based health services, to the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) and surrounding regions. More information can be found on the CHS website. Medical Staff in the Canberra Health Services enjoy excellent conditions, and our Enterprise Agreement is available at: ACTPS Medical Practitioners Enterprise Agreement 2023 - 2026 The Canberra Hospital ED is one of the busiest in the country, seeing >100,000 presentations per year, with 25% paediatric presentations. It is the regional referral centre for Trauma, Paediatrics and Women’s Health servicing ACT and southern NSW. TCH is accredited for 36 months of emergency medicine training with the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine, including accreditation for the paediatric and TS4 requirement. North Canberra Hospital ED is a large public hospital, 15 minutes from the city centre. It sees >55 000 presentations per year, also with a significant paediatric presentation volume. NCH is accredited for 36 months of emergency medicine training with the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine, including accreditation for the paediatric and TS4 requirement. Additional accredited rotations: Anaesthetics; Intensive Care; Neonatal Intensive Care Unit; Paediatrics; Acute Medicine Unit; Hospital in the Home; Retrieval (CRRS); Research; Medical Education; Forensic; Trauma; Sexual Health. Opportunities with teaching and examination with Australian National University medical school, as well as formal appointments periodically. There is a comprehensive training program with protected weekly teaching time that addresses the ACEM curriculum. Specific support for exam preparation for both the primary and fellowship examinations is available. There is also the opportunity to engage in research activities for both personal interest, career development, and to fulfil College requirements. The Senior Registrar position has dedicated non-clinical time to develop capabilities in Administration, Quality & Safety, Education, or Research with additional Medical Leadership support. This is designed to support the department and your career progression. The Senior Registrar position also acts as an important liaison role between the junior trainee group and Consultant group. There is easy access to high quality restaurants, outdoor recreation and natural beauty, without the traffic of other major cities. It is especially recognized as a great place to raise a family.
