Permanent | Part Time
We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a passionate and motivated Occupational Therapist to join our friendly community therapy team at Ryegate Children’s Centre.
This permanent position is ideal for someone who is committed to supporting children and young people with long-term conditions to achieve their full potential. You will work as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team alongside experienced physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and therapy assistants, all dedicated to delivering high-quality care.
Our team offers a wealth of knowledge and experience, providing an excellent environment for learning, development, and career progression.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
Is passionate about working with children and young people
Is enthusiastic, motivated, and committed to delivering high-quality care
Is keen to learn and develop their professional skills
Holds a Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy
Is registered with the HCPC
Has experience working with children (or relevant transferable experience)
Reporting into the Community Team Leader, some of your responsibilities will include
Deliver a high standard of occupational therapy care as part of a multidisciplinary team, including occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and other professionals within the community therapy service.
Carry out routine occupational therapy assessments for children and young people with a wide range of conditions in settings such as schools and family homes.
Identify and formulate occupational therapy diagnoses to inform effective care planning.
Develop and implement individualised, goal-oriented treatment programmes tailored to each child or young person.
Manage a delegated caseload, working under appropriate supervision while ensuring safe and effective care delivery.
Work as a developing autonomous practitioner, seeking guidance and support from senior occupational therapists and the wider multidisciplinary team as needed.
At Sheffield Children’s, our purpose is clear: to provide healthier futures for children and young people. Our three strategic aims are Outstanding Patient Care, Brilliant Place to Work, and Leaders in Children’s Health.
We work with partners across local, regional, and national levels to deliver physical and mental healthcare in both acute and community settings. Many of our clinicians are nationally and internationally recognised for their expertise.
We’re proud that 73% of colleagues would recommend Sheffield Children’s as a place to work, placing us among the top five NHS trusts in England — and the top-ranked trust in the North East and Yorkshire — in the latest NHS Staff Survey.
Our nearly 4,000 colleagues bring our CARE values — Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence — to life every day, creating a kind, welcoming environment where patients and families feel safe and supported.
As we approach our 150th anniversary in 2026, we’re excited to keep building our leadership in children's health, improve experiences for patients and staff, and focus on our communities and population health.
We also offer excellent benefits to support your wellbeing, with generous annual leave and pension schemes, health and wellbeing programmes, and exclusive discounts — helping you thrive at work and beyond.
